Psilocybe natalensis is a species of psilocybin fungus in the family of Hymenogastraceae, found in Southern Africa. Its species name refers to the place of discovery, the Natal region. The species was described as new to science in 1995 by Jochen Gartz, Derek Reid, Michael Smith and Albert Eicker. Psilocybe natalensis is closely related to Psilocybe cubensis, but differs in habitat preference, less permanent ring, and genetic sequence.
Psilocybe natalensis is characterized by long and thin legs, hats whose color ranges from creamy white to light brown are usually small or medium-sized, however, depending on the phenotype, adult specimens are capable of decking on the ground under the weight of the hat which the slender stem cannot support. Nature has gifted this strain with a high concentration of active alkaloids and a high basal content of psilocybin. Adult individuals shed dark spores.
Variety P. Cubensis was first collected in 1995 on the lush subtropical Indian Ocean coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It was originally thought that the specimen found belonged to a newly discovered variety of the Psilocybe, but after genetic sequencing, it turned out to be a very unique representative of the family P. Cubensis.
Natal Super Strength is known for its exceptionally rhizomorphic growth and rapid colonization time. This variety is extremely aggressive. Wild collected specimens are leucistic or albino. In breeding conditions they require some attention but are not particularly demanding. Our kit is aimed at the intermediate researcher.
Natalensis is an extremely graceful and unique strain. High potency combined with a relatively abundant yield is sure to please any explorer. They require some attention and aeration once a day from the pinning period.
