John W. Allen A Short History

John W. Allen, also known as "Mushroom John," is a prominent figure in the world of mycology, particularly in the field of research on psychedelic fungi. His body of work includes more than 50 publications in scientific journals such as. Mycology and Journal of Ethnopharmacology. Co-author of books including. Magic Mushrooms of the Pacific Northwest and Mushrooms and Mankind, collaborated with other well-known mycologists such as Dr. Gastón Guzmán, which led to the discovery of new species of fungi of the genus Psilocybe.

One of Allen's important discoveries is the Chitwan strain of the fungus Psilocybe cubensis, which he collected while traveling in Nepal in the 1990s. The fungus was found in the Chitwan region, growing on animal feces, and has since gained popularity among growers for its high potency and resistance.

Allen is also an advocate for the responsible use of psychedelic mushrooms, especially in the treatment of mental health problems such as depression and PTSD. His extensive research and educational efforts have helped combine traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches to mushrooms.
